Day 44: There is a small pueblo called Minka near Santa Marta. Apparently, before the big rains this year, it used to have decent roads to get to it. However, now most of the roads have turned into dirt messes, where you bounce around in a car like you're on the Indiana Jones ride at Disney land.
Minka is known for its river:
and for its little places to eat:
This place was a gorgeous bohemian place where they cooked the food in front of you, using all fresh ingredients.
Day 45: Water has become so central to my existance here. The idea that you cannot (can NOT) turn on the faucet and have drinkable water is foreign and makes me drink more water, I think.
Day 46: An art shot in our kitchen/bathroom area.
Day 47: There are these trains that run through Santa Marta as entertainment. They would be unremarkable except that in the back is always a caged kids play area with toys ranging from rocking horses to ball pens. It reminds me a little of Pinocchio where all the boys are turned into donkeys.
Day 48: This was found inside one of the cabs we took. It made me laugh. Clearly Santa Marta/Colombia is getting more tourists who speak English!
Day 49: Shoes!
